Drugs (narcotics), 1. Strong preparations of deafening and anaesthetising action (, cocaine, an aether, chloroform, nitrogen, , etc.). Are applied at surgical operations and in therapy of sharp states. The frequent use of the same narcotic invokes habituation (tolerance see) and can lead to a narcotism. Now this term is considered become outdated; narcotics name «» or “anaesthesia” is more often.
